024 | [Situation] 1⅝ miles W. [West] of Markinch. A good Farm house with outbuildings and the Ruin of an old house from which the present Farmhouse takes its name. The New Statistical Account mentions a Tumulus, near the buildings in which a Stone Coffin containing Human bones was found about 1770. I have made enquiry about this Tumulus and have consulted the writer of the New Statistical Account - Revd. [Reverend] Mr. Nicol of Leslie, he thinks there is no person at present living who can point out the Site of this Tumulus. |
