013 | [situation] Eastern portion of the parish. This name applies to the only village in the Parish of Kingsbarns: it is situated in the eastern part of the parish and about ½ a Mile from the Sea. and Consists of the Ph. [Parish] Church and Manse, the Ph. [Parish] School. 3 farm Steadings. 2 public houses. and a considerable number of Cottage dwellings occupied by labouring people Chiefly employed on the neighbouring farms. There is no regular fishing connected with the Village. the want of a safe harbour, and the Violence of the Waves during easterly winds, render it an unprofitable occupation. There is no Post office in the Village but the Post, from St. Andrews to Crail &c. passes through it daily. |
