19 Parish of Collessie Plan 10C Trace No. 4

[Quotation - Standing Stone] About a quarter of a mile east of the village and within the grounds of Melville, there is one of those large whinstones placed on its end, so frequently seen in other parts of the country. It is upwards of nine feet above the ground an about six feet in circumference. The stone is near the spot where the house of Hallhill stood, but probably of much greater antiquity. Ordnance Survey - Fife and Kinross counties

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the counties of Fife in the east of Scotland and Kinross in central Scotland. The boundaries of these counties were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
