[Quotation] "In the upper part of the burgh (Auchtermuchty) there is an old house in which it is popularly believed the great Macduff Maormor of Fife resided but the house though ancient has obviously been built at a period of some hundreds of years after the death of that great warrior. It in all probability belonged to the family and may have been inhabited by some of his ancestors.* Leighton's Hist: [History] of Fife Vol. [Volume] 2. p. 224

[Note] * The word "ancestors" in this quotation is evidently a mistake the writers, as appears by the foregoing part of the quotation mean posterity.

Ordnance Survey - Fife and Kinross counties

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the counties of Fife in the east of Scotland and Kinross in central Scotland. The boundaries of these counties were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
