A small village consisting of a number of detached and irregularly situated rows of dwelling houses from one to two stories high generally all in good repair and occupied by tradesmen and Agricultural labourers Chiefly the former - also a farm house and house and office houses, with a large farm of ground attached to it, there is one public house and one grocers shop in it, but no Post Office or public building of any kind save a Parish School it is the property of Capt [Captain] Maitland of Rossie and Mr. Watt of Dundee - gets the given name to distinguish it from "Grange of Kirkcaldy" & others |
