[Quotation] "About 200 yards west of the farm-steading of Ayton, and within a small clump of trees, are the ruins of an old chapel, 18 feet in length by 11 in breadth, with its burying ground, which appears to have been the burial place of the Aytons of Ayton. On one of the walls of the chapel is a tablet on which are carved four shields with coats of arms, and the date 1688" Leightons Hist [History] of Fife Vol II p 156.

Ordnance Survey - Fife and Kinross counties

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the counties of Fife in the east of Scotland and Kinross in central Scotland. The boundaries of these counties were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
