014; 015; 016; 021; 022 | [situation] On the Eastern side of the County of Kinross. A parish in Kinross-shire, bounded on the west by Perthshire; on the north by Perthshire and the Kinross-shire section of Forgandenny; on the Northeast, east and South east by Fifeshire and on the South by Loch Leven and by Kinross and Fossaway. Its greatest length from Northwest to Southeast is 9 1/4 miles; its greatest breadth is about 3 1/2 miles. About 500 acres of its area are waste or pastoral; between 6 or 7 hundred acres are under wood, and all the rest is occasionally or regularly in tillage. The only village in the parish is Milnathort. On the farm of Orwell, and near Loch Leven, are two Standing Stones which are mentioned elsewhere in the name book and among the Ochills stands "Cairn-ar-bain" formerly a prodigious collection of loose stones, but now much reduced. A small part of the parish is attached Quoad Sacra to the parish of Arngask. Full [Fullartons] Gazetteer.
