The ridge consists of an elevated table land, about four miles in length, completely insulated from the neighbouring Hills, and has a gentle and gradual slope towards the South, but on the north the declivity is precipitous and rocky, and springs immediately from the Valley of Stratheden to the height of 800 or 900 feet.
