A small conical hill on the farm of Gillingshill - and from which the farm takes the name. its surface is arable but under it is a sort [of] soft rock and some few years ago a large quantity of this rock was taken away for building and road repairs in removing it and a few feet below the surface a number of stone coffins containing human remains were found each coffin was formed of four large flags placed on their edges and one covering the same. no weapons of any kind were found in or about the place. |
