[Situation] Near the Western extremity of Fifeshire.
[Descriptive Remarks] A parish, the largest in the county of Fife. The extreme length from north to south is about 8 miles, and average breadth about 3 ½ miles. It is bounded by the parishes of Cleish and Saline on the north, of Carnock & Torryburn on the west, and of Beath, Aberdour, Dalgety and Innekeithing on the east. It has Inverkeithing also on the Southeast, and the Firth of Forth on the S[outh] West. The parish generally throughout is well diversified with enclosed fields and plantations. Besides the Royal burgh of Dunfermline there are several small villages in the vicinity of the former, the ruins of the Abbey and several minor Antiquities, all of which see their respective descriptions in the adjoining sheets.
