3/8 of a Mile S[outh] E[ast] of Torryburn. | The Ruins of the Parish Church of Crombie. There is no record of the time when crombie was first erected into a Parish, the earliest notice on the subject is in a list of Parishes said to have been drawn in the reign of King W[illia]m the Lion, quoted in a recent publication from Sibbald's His[tory] of Fife. Crombie appears to have been dependant on the Abbey of Culross. In the "Book of the Universalle Kirk of Scotland" Torrie and Crombie are noticed as separate Parishes in year 1581 and 1586, and it is thought that the Union was effected towards the close of the same Century. The Church is surrounded by a Grave Yard, still in use, and being on an elevated position, it commands a fine View of the Firth of Forth and opposite Coast. |

Parish of Torry Burn
"One of the first notices in the session convened at the Kirk of Crombie, appointed ane stent for repairing the Kirk of Crombie, extending to 30lb, to be paid by parishioners. But there is nothing in the record to enable us to ascertain whether that Church was then or afterwards used for public worship:. New Stat[istical] Acc[oun]t of Fife. Also in the same Stat[istical] Acc[oun]t it is noticed on page 859 that this Church "the patronage of which belonged to the Monastery of Dunfermline", and King Malcolm IV was a Donor in 1158-1163.
