"I have made all possible inquiry about this tower, and went carefully near the place myself. There is no remains of it visible, and no one in the neighbourhood ever heard of such a thing, the proprietor of Kirklands does not reside there, but there is a tower shaped building on a garden wall near Kirklands built by the occupier ( a whimsical --[unreadable]) and used as a privy, this may have misled the writer of the Stat[istical] Acc[oun]t.
