[situation] A room at the West end of the Madras Academy. A library in the Town of Cupar, it is a collection of about 6000 Volumes of Books the property of a large number of Subscribers belonging to the town and suburbs of Cupar. It was first Commenced about the year 1797. by a number of voluntary Subscribers and is since supported by Annual Subscriptions of the proprietors and Occasional Monthly and yearly readers. book are [lent] out of it, only to parties becoming Yearly, quarterly or Monthly Subcribers. It is at present kept in a room on the 3rd or top of that building occupied as Town Clerks Office. the room is property of the Heirs of the late Provost Nicol and is rented [and] used as a library by the proprietors. |
