018.11 | The old church and churchyard of Dundurcas, the former in ruins, are to be seen not far from the Spey, about two miles from the Village of Rothes and occupy an interesting and attractive situation on the verge of a piece of tableland overlooKing the fertile Haugh of Dundurcas only the walls of the church remain, and the burial-ground is enclosed with a substantial wall, which was built a few years ago at the expense of the late Dr [Doctor] John Simpson, See New Statistical Account P [Pages] 5 & 6 A mile beyond Garbity we reach Dundurcas a small village that has been transferred from the left to the side of the road; near the old site, however, is the roofless church of the parish of this name, which has long been united to that of Rothes. It is reported the parties who had been engaged to take down the superseded church, were assailed by the parishioners with stones |
