[Situation] South side of George Street A large building on the South side of George Street extending bacKwards nearly to Rose Street In front is a portico Supported by four pillars about 12 feet high The front part of the building was occupied as the Free church college prior to the erection of the New college on the mound. The [interior] of the church is well fitted up [with] galleries &c. Sufficient to accomodate about 1400 with seats. The minister [is] the Revd [Reverend] Mr. Nisbet whose stipend [is] paid out the Sustentation fund. N.B. The part of the building which is a large house adjoining the church & through [---] is the entrance to the church fron George Street is now unoccupied & is advertised to be [let or] sold. This was formerly the Free church college Previous to this erection of the Bew college on the mound. |
