This name is applied to a small locality on the north side of Water of Leith here are two large buildings with some smaller ones attached one department (the western part) is the property of the Edinburgh gas company, & consist of 5 gasometers 2 of which are enclosed by a well constructed stone house or building 2 others are enclosed by 2 circular buildings in shape of towers & one longer gasometer is uncovered but at present one of the circular buildings is being removed and a large gasometer is to be erected in its stead. These gasometers are supplied from the gas works in Canongate & used as a depot or reservoir for the gas which supplies the northern district of the City.
