[Situation] 15 chains SSW [South South West] of Dean Church. A large building three stories [storeys] high ornamented with two open towers and a handsome Grecian portico in front. This building was erected in 1832 at a cost of £16000 According to the regulations orphan children from any part of Scotland are admitted The number of inmates at present are ninety five including girls & boys. A good plain education is given to both sexes. The girls are exercised in the domestic duties of the house to train them for servants. |
