Transcriber's notes
An extensive note relating to the spelling of "Foxe's Lane" -
"Although all the authorities are for the spelling Foxe's Lane yet I would suggest the propriety of disagreeing with this authority as I believe it is from Fox a family name. Therefore "Fox's Lane" would be the proper orthography & would be better to engrave on plan."
Relating to Riddle's Close - There is a note indicating that the apostrophe is "not on plan".

Ordnance Survey - Midlothian county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Midlothian, which is in the east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
