[Situation] On the west Side of the Town of DalKeith A large stone building erected by the Duke of Buccleuch, it is in contemplation to divide the Parish of Dalkeith into two under the names of Dalkeith & Buccleuch and this buildg [building] is intended as the Parish Church of Buccleuch. Abridged Out: from Stat: acct [Statistical Account] of Dalkeith 1844. An elegant church of the early English Gothic style built in 1840 by the Duke of Buccleuch in a commanding site at the head of the town. It is in the form of a cross and seated for about 950 persons, and intended for the accommodation of Members of the Establishd [Established] Church. |
