| CAMP [Mid Hill] | Camp | Mr Simpson, School Heriot Mr Hastie, Corsehill Heriot |
022 ; 023 | An ancient encampment, situated on a commanding eminence, called "Mid Hill", on the farm of "Corsehope", in a good state of preservation. There is no well founded tradition in the neighbourhood respecting it. Mr Simpson P. [Parish] Schoolmaster of heriot thinks it is of Danish construction. Its shape is irregular. Some of the shepherds of the Place Call it Roman, and Mr Smith P. [Parish] Minister of Heriot says it is very probable that it is of Roman construction, although its shape is different from what they generally are. |

Ordnance Survey - Midlothian county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Midlothian, which is in the east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
