014 | The remains of an encampment on the farm of Longfaugh, Locally said to be of Roman Construction, It is more apparently one of British formation being of nearly Circular Shape formed by an earthen rampart surrounded by a Fosse outside of which are some small fragments of an other rampart which at some former period encircled it outside of the above described fosse are small fragments of this last named rampart, which like the former was of earthen remains - A stone fence by which the whole is enclosed keeps round upon the line of this second, or outer rampart, and the whole interior of it is Cover'd [covered] by Large Trees, though having all the appearance of a British Fort all local authority agree in Calling it a Roman Camp. |
