012 | Situate partly in the Parish of Currie and partly in the Parish of Glencross. A large reservoir or artificial lake formed by stopping the waters of the Logan Burn, belonging to the Edinburgh Water Company. The water is filtered in three small ponds and then conveyed in pipes for supplying the City of Edinburgh. The ancient church of St. Catherine is submerged in the north end of this reservoir. During dry seasons the ruins are seen above the surface of the water. The spelling Glencross is here adopted in preference to Glencorse as given by the authorities quoted as the former spelling is used in the parish name and on several other names. |

Ordnance Survey - Midlothian county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Midlothian, which is in the east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
