The Name was originally Herdmans Shield It was changed to Hermand by a former proprietor who was afterwards elevated to the Scotch Bench by the title of Lord Hermand it Subsequently became the property of and was occupied by the late Lord Dundrennan And now belongs to his Son G Maitland Esq. |
