[Situation] On East side of Tolbooth Wynd Large Gas Works erected by a company of subscribers who were incorporated by act of parliament in the year 1818, The buildings are sustantial and in good repair, consisting of retorts, Gasometers, Lime and Engine houses, sheds and condensers.The chimney which conveys the smoke from the works is very remarkable being about 330 feet high The streets and houses of the city generally are supplied with gas from here, by the cubic foot, and at prices varying according to circumstance, |
