016 | A Moat in good preservation situated on the farm of Auldton and about half a mile to the east of the village of Moffat. This artificial Mount, is supposed to have been formed and used, during an age when justice was administered to a coarse people in the open air. From the Retours it is evident that Auld Dalton is the original name and now corrupted to Auldton. |
