[South South East] from Auchencastle This has been [appearantly] a place of considerable Strength as the walls have been about 12 feet thick, there is the remains of circular towers at three of the corners the building has not be exactly rectangular although the north and south sides have been nearly parrelel; nearly adjoining the walls it has been surrounded by a dike and other fortifications still further out By the tradition of the locality Randolph Murray was the last person that inhabited the Castle about 500 years since, There is a triangular cottage with garden attached to the Castle which goes under the same name |
