An old Tower in Ruins on the North bank of Milk Water, it is supposed to have been the residence of a family of the name of Scott. This has been a place of strength in the border wars. See Act of Parl. [Parliament] in reign of James V. intituted Act of Bigging of Pelis. &c.. Lunelly is the old proper name, the mansion of Corrie of Corrie afterwards Johnstone of Annandale. Only a few yards of the walls now remain. The old Stat. Acct. [Statistical Account] of Dumfriesshire. |
