This was formerly a parochial school; but a man of the name of Moffat wished to endow it if the heiritors would allow him to be patron which at that time was agreed to, but as time wore on the endowment was thought to be too small, and the heiritors agreed to give 16 pounds extra; and the present schoolmaster holds a written agreement to that effect and likewise mentains it to be a parochail school but the heiritors deny; and a misunderstanding has arisen; the average attendance of scholars is about 80 |
