Transcriber's notes

Note to moderator: I have worked backwards through this volume to reach this page.

Before starting, I downloaded the images for the entire volume to allow quick comparison of words and handwriting when I am having difficulty making out words. I always double check what I have transcribed before marking complete and I save to a text file as I go. Apologies if some mistakes have still slipped through, or if I have consistently capitalised incorrectly.

When capitalisation is not obvious, I have tried to allow for the first letter of a word usually being written larger (especially if it is the first word of a line) and I have compared it in size to words on the same line and same paragraph (and sometimes between pages), as well as looked for any stylistic differences in how letters like e.g. 's' have been written when capitalised by that writer elsewhere. However, some writers are so inconsistent. I have always tried to transcribe what I see, rather than what I expect to see and e.g. just applying capitals to all names. 'm' in particular is a problem (Morrine, Mc...) - see e.g. p.38 where 'm' (monnyhive, morrine) is written stylistically by Munro the same way when used in names as how he has written it in 'miles', with only a small difference in height to the following letter.
