The Summit of a tract of bold moorland containing about 900 acres and to which this name is often applied. It is part of the Estate of Auchenchain and property of Gilbert Cullow of Kirkcudbright. Girharrow is the name of a shepherd's dwelling at the foot of Auchenchain Hill hence the name by some of the inhabitants. |
