062 | [Situation] At the South Side of Close Head - A plain building, built in the year 1795 by the Independent Congregation of Annan, and vested in Trustees, in 1838 it was purchased for a Roman Catholic place of worship, it has a gallery at its Northern end, and sittings for 200 persons, Roman Catholics in and within 7 miles of Annan 325, average attendants 125, Communicants 92. The surviving Trustees are the Revd. John MacPherson Principal of Blairs College Aberdeen, Reverend Stephen Keenan Dundee and Revd. James Gillies now Bishop of Edinburgh. There being no stationary Priest in Annan it is attended the first Sunday of every month from Dumfries. |
