013 | The Devils Brig or sometimes called the Black Brig is situated a short distance North of the farm of Cairnochries, and on the Avenue, East of the White Cow Lodge. The legend attached to it is; that the Army from the Den of Howie near Fetterangus, marched towards the opposition party, encamped at the Camp Howe in the White Cow Wood; and that the leader crossed this place, who was termed the Devil, so taking the name from him. |

Ordnance Survey - Aberdeen county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Aberdeen, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
