Mr McCombie, Davoch Mr Dingwall, Blackmill Mr J. Wilson, Tulloch Parish Registers New Statistical Account Fullarton's Gazetteer |
060 ; 069 ; 070 ; 080 ; 081 | continued [from page 4] One of these Cairns situated about half a mile north of the manse of Coldstone, must have originally been of remarkable size, for though it has, according to the report of the inhabitants, furnished materials for the erection of several enclosures in the neighbourhood, it still stands Conspicuous. Upon the farm of Parks of Coldstone, and on a spot of ground which, though now drained and improved, has evidently been a morass, there is still to be seen a deep and wide moat Surrounding a slightly elevated area of about an acre. * No vestige of this can be now traced. [Signed] Robert Dickson Lce. Corpl. R.E. [Lance Corporal Royal Engineers] 3.2.68 [3 Feb 1868] *Extracts from Statistical Account of Logie Coldstone Parish Aberdeenshire 1843. Note - There is no portion of this Parish in any other, but there are two detached portions of Tarland and Migvie, numbered respectively 1 & 2 drawn with this Parish, and situated as follows. No [Number] 1 Is attached on the north west of the Parish between Strathdon and Towie, and bounded on the north by Glenbucket and Strathdon Det. [Detached] No [Number] 2. Nearly in the centre of the Parish, and about 2 miles south east of No [Number] 1 portion, and bounded by Towie on the north. |

Ordnance Survey - Aberdeen county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Aberdeen, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
