026 | Situated about three miles. North East from Huntly it is a small Hill the whole of which is planted with Fir. it is thickly covered with large stones. two of them being named. Castle Stone, and the Cradle Stones. there is also a small Loch upon it, and a spring well. all of these being near the summit of the Hill. the small Loch mentioned here. is said to be the Mouth of a volcano. which at one time is supposed to have burnt there. its the property of His grace the Duke of Richmond, Around this Loch there has been found fragments of lava and pumice-stone. |
