A Castle Surrounded by a deep fosse and protected by a tower, once the residence of the celebrated John O'Badenyon. tradition says, of some of the family of Mowat, in the thirteenth century" vide Smith's Donside Guide - no remains of this Castle is now visible, and very little account can be obtained of its existance or by whom erected and the date thereof. The eminence on which it stood can be merely be pointed out, and the moat or fosse by which it was surrounded is now filled up. Ordnance Survey - Aberdeen county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Aberdeen, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
