034 | About 30 chains South of the farm of Millhill, on what is now known as the "Herds Hillock," may be seen the remains of this sepulchral mound , surrounded by a considerable quantity of small stones, and in the centre of which there was a considerable quantity of burnt stones and wood ashes. It is a number of Years ago since this Tumulus was defaced by the Tenant of Millhill, when bringing this part of his farm under the plough. It is supposed to have had some connection with a skirmish that was fought close by in 1411. |
