Parish of Fyvie

[Note beside 'Camp']
I can find no certain authority on this point, - nor is this Camp in the line of the Roman Road to Glenmaillen.
It might however have been placed here as an outpost to guard their flank on that Road, & I have accordingly
allowed the tradition to stand good for this object.
[Signed] E.H. Courtney Captn. [Captain] RE [Royal Engineers]
11th March 1869
on further enquiry I find it more likely that this trench is simply the remains of the old road from Meiklefolla (or Follarule) & other Farms to the mill now called Meadaple.
Follarule was Church lands, and Meadaple their mill, to which all their Tenants were restricted. This name is therefore cancelled. [Initialled] E.H.C. Captn. [Captain] RE [Royal Engineers] 30th June 1869.

Ordnance Survey - Aberdeen county

Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Aberdeen, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
