| LETHENTY CASTLE (In Ruins) | (Remains of) Lethenty Castle (Remains of) Lethenty Castle (Remains of) Lethenty Castle |
Mr William Weir. Mr Alexander Rennie. Mr George Melville. |
045 | There is still remaining a considerable portion of the ruins of Lethenty Castle, one portion is converted into a stable, and another into a dwelling house. I cant get any authentic information in connection with this Castle, from any of the people in the district. Mrs Innes, the Tenant of the farm, and who is a cousin of the proprietor, says, that the castle has not been occupied for the last 50 years, though it was once the family residence of the Skene family, the property at present belongs to Capt. [Captain] William Abraham Skene. his present residence is unknown. There is a stone at the Castle marked EVS,1622. and at the farmsteading of Hillhead there are two stones, each marked 1602, these stones were taken from the old castle some years ago, and are built into the wall of the stables. |

Ordnance Survey - Aberdeen county
Ordnance Survey was established in the 18th century to create maps, surveys and associated records for the entirety of Great Britain. These records are arranged by county. This entry has been created to enable searching for Ordnance Survey records for the county of Aberdeen, which is in the north east of Scotland. The boundaries of the county were altered by the Boundary Commissioners in 1891.
