046 | These relics consisted of two Stone Cists each measuring abt. [about] 4 feet in length and abt. [about] 20 inches in depth and the same in breadth at the ends (thus [sketch]) with human bones, found in each. The date on which they were discovered I could not exactly ascertain but Mr Wright who witnessed them thinks it is about 45 or 50 years ago. They were discovered whilst digging for gravel for improving the old Road which passes by the spot, a portion is still visible of one of the Coffin Slabs among the rubbish or refuse, on the same side of the road and abt. [about] 3 Chains below where they were discovered. |
