075 | This extensive nursery was purchased by Mr. Roy in 1829. And has every variety of soil and aspect, from a considerable altitude, with fine dry subsoil, to low levels containing acres of excellent peat. On acquiring the Nursery Mr. Roy had it efficiently drained Supplying Devanha Distillery with water. and conveying off the surplus Water into the River Dee --- Previous to this the lower portion of the nursery was waste bog. From the various undulations, as well as the winding of some of the walks, and the many fine trees, all planted by Mr Roy, it is highly picturesque and it is Known all over the United Kingdom from the many hands it has sent into the Horticultural world. Of late the adjoining lands, also possessed by Mr. Roy, is being rapidly fued for Villas, and in this way the Nursery bids fair soon to become part of Aberdeen |
