075 | A good substantial plain building designed by William Henderson & Son Esqrs Architects, and erected in 1854 at a cost of, including the ground, about £5,000. It is a spacious building and well constructed for convenience and comfort although order and cleanliness is strictly observed here, yet exacting and stringent rules are seldom if ever resorted to. the building is capable of Containing about 220 inmates. There are fine spacious yards. and a large garden etc attached. where invalids and infirm, when able, can walk about. the officers are a Governor. a Medical officer a Chaplain and a Matron, all acting under the direction of the Board of Supervision, this includes only the parish of Old Machar --- |
