075 | A beautiful building in the Elizabethan Style of Architecture Situated on the south east Corner of Union Bridge, the property of the incorporated trades of the City and used by them for the transaction of their business. it Consists of a hall with antechambers and offices, there are also schools attached to it on a Sunken floor entering from the Den Burn. The Hall is adorned with portraits of the various patrons there are also the Chairs of the various Trades many of which are of great antiquity -- the building was erected in 1846-7. The former Trinity Hall stood on the site of the Trinity Friars Monastery at the south west end of Market Street, but along with the Ground was sold to the Railway Coy [Company] in 1845. |
