Transcriber's notes

Annotations in red and/or green ink have not been transcribed.

Note to Moderators: Regarding my transcription of "H. Aitken, writer, Falkirk" into Henry Aitken, I didn't simply rely on the next entry down to guess that this H. Aitken was Henry Aitken. I did a search for any "Henry Aitken" on scotlandsplaces.gov.uk and found two other instances where Henry Aitken is identified as a writer in Falkirk. Likewise, D.C. Buchanan of Drumpelzier is elsewhere identified as David Carrick Buchanan of Drumpelzier, so I expanded his name.
