If you find an issue with an image on Scotland’s People, you can report this to us.

The most common issues or problems are:

  • image is illegible (usually because it is derived from microfilm)
  • index data does not match to the correct image
  • index data is incorrect

Reporting issues

If you haven’t purchased an image

Report the issue by using the contact form.

If you have purchased an image

If you have purchased an image, the best way to report an issue is to do it directly from the image viewer.

Once you have opened the image in the image viewer, use the 'report an issue' button at the top right of the image viewer.

This will take you to the contact form. It will automatically fill in:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • the image reference and index entry

Write  a short explanation of the issue in the 'message' field.

After you report an issue

When you send the message it gets sent to us. You’ll receive an automatic response to say we’ve got your message.

We’ll then investigate the issue, resolve it as soon as possible and respond to you by e-mail.
