Answer: apart from the soldiers, the others were Agnes Guthrey (Agnus Gutrey) spouse to James Smart, seaman; John Hunter (huntour), who was not resident in Canongate (stranger); and John Stewart (steuert) an indweller (induler), meaning a resident without a trade.
