Answers: The petitioner was Captain John Livingstoun, who was claiming 18 shillings per day for his subsistence in prison. The payments had been allowed by an act of council, but had ceased by order of the Receiver General.

Upon a petition given in by Capt[ain] John
Livingstoun prisoner, Bearing that he had
18 s~ Scots allowed him p[e]r diem by ane act
of Councell untill a Gen[er]all Stope wes made
of all pay[men]ts that the Receiver Gen[er]all would
not allow the same, And humbly Craved that
the Lord[is] would order the payment thereof
still for his better subsistance in person
Precept drawen on S[i]r Patrick Murray
for paying to the said Capt[ain] Livingstoun: 12 s~
Scots p[e]r diem, from the day of the last
