In this poser, taken from the decreets of the Privy Council in 1680, we asked you what reasons were given by the three landowners for their non-attendance and did the Privy Council accept them.

Answers: Alexander Glasse of Sauchie was able to produce a 'sick note' to the effect that he had injured himself in falling from his horse and had sent horses and servants to the host. The Earl of Monteith and Sire William Grahame of Gartmore were absent because they had been commissioned by the Privy Council to guard the river crossings of the Forth during the host. All three were assoilzied (acquitted) by the Privy Council.

It being verified by a certificat that Alexander Glasse
of Sauchie was unable to goe in persone to the host having
gott a bruise by a fall from his horse and that it is proven
he had two horses and servants present It is the opinion
of the committee he be assoilzied
The Earle of monteath having by commission from the
Council attended and guarded the foords of Forth the time
of the host It is their opinion he be assoilzied As also
S[i]r William Grahame of Gartmore be also assoilzied he
having deponed upon oath that he attended the said passadge
with severall of his men be command of the said Earle
