In this poser, taken from the minutes of Dalmellington Kirk Session in 1706 (National Records of Scotland, CH2/85/1/209), we asked who had been accused of what crime and how had they been discovered.

Answer: Margaret Good was accused of having several persons drinking in her house after 10 o'clock at night, and refusing to comply with the demands of the church elders to stop supplying them with alcohol. Her crime had been discovered after a search of the town by the elders.

The which day the two elders that searched the Town upon Tuesday
night delated that they going in to Margaret Goods house & there
finding severall persons drinking after ten of clock at night they
discharged her to give them any more drink which she flately
refused to complay with upon which the session appointed her to be
cited to appear before them the nixt Sabbath
