South Yell kirk session

A Church of Scotland quoad sacra parish. It was originally a separate parish but united with Yell in the sixteenth century and with Fetlar and North Yell in the seventeenth century. In 1709 Mid Yell and South Yell were disjoined from Fetlar and North Yell and in 1880 South Yell was disjoined quoad sacra from Mid Yell. The kirk session for South Yell sat within the presbytery of Lerwick (Shetland or Scalloway) and later of Burravoe, and the synod of Shetland. It was sometimes known as Hamnavoe.
