Tiree kirk session

A church court that sat within the presbytery of Mull, later of Lorn and Mull, and the synod of Argyll. Tiree originally existed as a single parish, but was later divided into two parishes, Kirkapol and Sorobie (also known as Heylipol or Hylipol). In 1618 the parishes of Kirkapol and Sorobie were united along with the parish of Coll, but Coll was severed from the two united parishes of Tiree in 1865, and in 1875, Sorobie was disjoined from Kirkapol leaving it to stand once more as an independent parish.
